Shepherds

  • Terry Bumpus

Terry grew up in Inglewood just a few blocks from the Jackson Park Church building. He attended neighborhood schools and graduated from Isaac Litton HS. While he didn't attend Jackson Park until he was baptized in 1973, there were many Jackson Park members that were influential in his childhood and teen years. He met his wife, Linda, while they were both attending what is now the University of Memphis School of Law and they were married in 1980. They have 3 daughters: Elizabeth (husband, James Parnell and son, Andrew), Caroline and Meggie. Terry and his family are involved with the City of Children orphanage in Ensenada, Mexico, and the congregation that meets in Maneadero. He has served as an elder since 2005. "

Favorite Scripture - John 15:12 | "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

I like it because it reminds me of the great sacrificial love Jesus had for each one of us and at the same time sets the bar very high for how we are to treat each other.

  • Randy Hatchett

He received a B.S. in Social Work from Freed-Hardeman University, where he met his wife, Sherry. They married in 1977. The Hatchetts moved to the Nashville area in 1983 and began attending Jackson Park in 1986. Randy became an elder in the year 2000 and currently serves as songleader. • Scott Trew

Kenneth “Scott” Trew started attending Jackson Park in 1974 when he began dating his future bride, Joanie Miller. He and Joanie met at Goodpasture and later married April 30, 1976. Scott was baptized in 1977. He and Joanie are the proud parents to Heather Adkins and Melissa Creel, and the proud grandparents to Avery Adkins, Cameron and Brenna Creel. • Jim Martin

Jim and Melanie met here at Jackson Park Church many years ago when they were in the Youth Group in 1978. They attended camp for many years as counselors and helped with camp even after getting married and having 3 sons.  The Young Singles class also came about and with Jim and Beth Olive hosting many a fun devotional and feeding us hungry young adults. These devotionals helped to bring Jim and Melanie together and we dated and married at Jackson Park in October 1982. The annual Thanksgiving Food Drive originated from the Young Singles Group and is still serving the East Nashville Community as Jim and Melanie serve as the Directors. Melanie began teaching at the Jackson Park Preschool in 1997 as a four-year-old teacher and is now the Director of the Preschool.  Jim now serves as one of the Shepherds here at Jackson Park Church. Jim and Melanie have 3 amazing sons 2 beautiful daughters in love and 3 precious grandchildren.

  • Allan Welch

Allan and Hope Welch came to Jackson Park in 1997, one year after Hope joined the staff as the secretary. Allan served as a deacon over audio visual and building and grounds prior to being asked to serve as an elder. Allan and Hope are both active in Celebrate Recovery. One of the first memories they have of Jackson Park is their daughter, Lindsay, being baptized by brother, Jim Olive. A few years later their youngest daughter, Brittney was baptized by Lee Hickerson at church camp. Allan is a retired firefighter/paramedic. After a career ending injury, Allan decided to work at the local high school in their in-school suspension room. Though those days were challenging, Allan is grateful that he was able to influence for good some of the students who crossed his path. During this time, Allan and Hope became parents to Shawn, a thirteen year old young man. Their children are grown and married making them grandparents to five grandchildren; 15 month old boy and girl twins, 3 year old granddaughter, 8 year old grandson, and an 11 year old granddaughter.
